Movement often plays an important role in my artworks. In the works I make, movement can be triggered by people, influenced by nature, or set in motion mechanically. In my artworks, I work with a wide variety of materials. In the recent years I fell in love with the material glass and have taught myself the craft of glassworking, using a handheld torch. This allows me to manipulate the glass into different shapes, which can form small art pieces or larger structures when assembled. I also frequently experiment with light in my work and find a great fascination in incorporating lamps. There is an allure to me in the way light
transforms space and perception.
With some of my artworks, I hope to spark small moments of contact, brief conversations between strangers that might become the starting point for new connections. In this way, I hope my work, however modest, contributes to a world where reaching out to someone else becomes just a little easier. Art has the power to bring people together, to make them play, explore, and break the ice. That’s why I often incorporate the possibility of transformation into my work. Viewers are a lot of times invited to touch, shift, or reshape the artwork, to make it their own in a way.
